In France, Smart Grid technologies have been rapidly developing over the course of the past few years, with high stakes surrounding the roll-out of smart meters, and notably ERDF’s highly publicized meter, Linky, and GRDF’s Gazpar.

All in all, almost 36 million smart electric meters and 11 million gas meters will be rolled-out across France by 2022, with somewhere in the region of 6 billion euros being invested in these operations.

The French government is also involved in numerous Smart Grid development schemes and innovation projects via the French Agency for the Environment and Energy Management (ADEME).

The Smart Grids Paris trade show is now one of Europe’s leading events in the Smart Grids field, counting 2,500 attendees, 60 exhibitors and almost 150 speakers.

Topics being examined in 2014:

  • Demand-Response/load Shifting
  • Storage and RE
  • Electric Mobility
  • Smart Gas, Smart Water and Smart Heat Networks
  • Decentralization and Smart Regions
  • Sociological Aspects
  • Metering and Standards
  • Smart  Home/ Smart Building or the Internet of Things
