EURELECTRIC has called on European and national policymakers to take measures that would “re-orient energy policy towards cost-efficiency and competitiveness”. In a Manifesto presented to EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger on Monday, the electricity industry asked policymakers to adopt a more coherent and European approach to energy and climate policies, so as to reduce those policies’ costs while increasing their impact. The Commissioner welcomed EURELECTRIC’s push for more European and market-based policies, but expressed scepticism about EURELECTRIC’s climate agenda. The Manifesto as well as the accompanying key messages Communiqué are available on a dedicated webpage, which also includes photos and videos from the event.
