EnerDynamic Hybrid Technologies Corp (EHT), a Canadian company, has announced it has completed its first microgrid off-grid system in Ghana, West Africa. The smart grid, installed at Gariba Lodge, is a fully off-grid energy solution utilising solar panels and battery storage. Gariba Lodge is one of the largest hotel complexes in northern Ghana.
Following increases in local electrical rates and frequent power outages in the main grid, Gariba Lodge can now expect to see a payback within five years on the investment. EHT’s smart grid solution will permit the three separate buildings at Gariba Lodge, all connected in the EHT off-grid microgrid solution, to generate and share power between themselves and on demand. The three buildings combined will generate over 500k Wh daily.
