Smart Grid Australia Conference on Smart Policies and Smart Storage

17 Nov 2014- 17 Nov 2014
Radisson Blu , 27 O'Connell Street , Sydney , New South Wales , Australia

The themes of SGA’s November 19  Conference are: Smart Policies (morning session) and Energy consumption and storage in the context of smart grids (afternoon session).

The NSW Government has signalled it intends to take a leadership role in developing the transition towards a smart energy future, with recent announcements about leading in renewables. The Minister has kindly committed to provide his vision of electricity policy at the Conference, building on the recently launched Smart Grid, Smart City results.  He has said he welcomes having a 20 minute discussion on with stakeholders and NSW leading in electricity. This is a great opportunity for members to participate and influence policy debate.

Over the last few months there has been a significant increase in interest developments in storage technologies; good progress has been made and this disruptive development will have significant impact on electricity networks. Key elements in relation to smart grids that will be discussed include:

  • The integration of storage into the distribution system
  • Participation of storage in the energy market (e.g. Transactive Energy models)
  • The potential of creating new business models for distribution businesses and newcomers in the market
