The development of a Pan-European electricity network is of strategic importance for the functioning of the Internal Electricity Market in the EU, and to make better use of renewable energy sources. We therefore need to revisit how we share the investment costs of energy infrastructure projects between countries.

Objectives of the webinar:

  • To explain how countries currently share the investment costs of energy infrastructure projects across borders.
  • To discuss how the energy infrastructure package (TEN-E Regulation) is an opportunity to improve the current practice.

Leonardo Meeus is a part-time Professor of the Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute, and an Associate Professor of Energy Markets, at the Vlerick Business School in Brussels. He recently published a policy brief on the topic of this webinar.
