Chinese companies agree to build better connected intelligent grid in Ethiopia

Chinese telecom Huawei and China Electric Power Equipment and Technology have signed a MoU with the Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) to build a better connected intelligent grid in Ethiopia. The two companies will share their experiences with the EEU, thus helping the East African country build a smart grid system.

A donation was made by the two companies to the EEU of a smart power distribution pilot project, which will be tested and verified to check its competence in the Ethiopian situation. The smart grid power in Ethiopia, one of the top three electric power generators in Africa, would contribute to the industrialisation of its neighbouring countries such as Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan.
